Wow. Invading all of Arabia would have been quicker, cheaper, and would NOT have forced other countries to use a nuclear deterrent against us. That's news to me. I guess when Hitler invading every country around him, the rest of the world just gave up because he was powerful and crazy. If there is one thing to keep in mind, it is that modern history was filled with war as a tool, not as a last resort. I guess there are still people around that see war as a tool. It doesn’t seem like much when you just read about it in the papers. But, war is mass murder, whatever way you put it. Sometimes waging it is more just than others, but when war is used as a tool - as it was in Vietnam and Iraq - it only further pushes the world into a downward spiral away from human development and real security. I thought World War II taught us a lesson. Ask your parents or grandparents if it would have been worth it if we were somehow able to prevent diplomatically Japan, Germany, and Italy from mass-colonizing and genocide. They would all say of course. Ultimately, if we continue to see the institution of war as a tool in our foreign policy toolbox, Americans and all people of the world will never be truly safe. You can't just keep invading bad guys and hope for them to go away. We invaded Iraq, and Al Qaeda came. Iran is now readying to fight. North Korea is about to test a missile that could reach our shores. To say we are geostrategically safer today because we took out Saddam's government is short of the truth. Ten years from now, a democratic Iraq could appear even worse. We saw in Iran what a U.S.-imposed regime can turn into. You can't defeat Arabia with constant war. It may feel patriotic, but history proves that no matter how many times you try to wipe out the enemy, more are always created. Unless you guys want to further the spiral into an international society of insecurity and horror, I would recommend to stop conceiving of war as just another weapon. It's the worst thing man created. If we have to go to war, so be it. But to fight unjust wars against governments that you oppose, even if they did horrible things, is sinful.
