Twilight Zone: Strickland Takes Credit for Republican Tax Cuts That His Entire Party Voted Against

Here is the bizarre press release from Ted’s office:

Columbus, Ohio – Governor Ted Strickland today announced a 4.2 percent decrease in income tax withholding rates for 2008, which is another step in the phase in of a 21-percent, across-the-board income tax cut that will be completed by the 2009 tax year.

“These income tax cuts will provide Ohio families more money each paycheck to invest in what matters most to them,” Strickland said.

Ted Strickland’s entire party, in both the Ohio House and Ohio Senate, voted against these tax cuts. And the Ohio GOP, which clearly has a better memory than the the Democrat cheerleaders in the MSM, is pointing out that Attorney General Marc Dann even filed a protest of the bill, claiming the tax cuts would “negatively impact” Ohio businesses and families.

Ohio has the 5th highest taxes in the nation, so tax rates are hardly something for the Republicans to brag about. But it is even more bizarre that Ted Strickland… the same guy who voted for some of the largest tax increases ever in Congress and the guy who still supports HillaryCare Version 1.0… is out there spreading the good news about scheduled tax cuts. Just like the scorpion in the well-known fable has it in his nature to sting regardless of the consequences, liberals like Ted Strickland have it in their inherent nature to raise taxes.

Hey reporters! Why not get a quote from Ohio Dem Chairman Chris Redfern? He voted against this tax cut, and I’d love to hear what he has to say about Strickland’s laughable press release.

With apologizes to Rod Serling, Ted Strickland has truly entered the Twilight Zone…

Sounds a bit like Wisconsin’s governor Jim Doyle’s comment on our train-wreck of a budget, which includes $763 million in new taxes and fees and more government regulations - “After a long process, Democrats and Republicans have come together to hold the line on taxes, streamline government and create real opportunity for Wisconsin families and businesses.”

Streamline government! Oh how I hate that term.

I want government to be tiny and non-streamlined. The thought of streamlined government scares me!

Spending checked because of Blackwell and taxes cut because of Taft. What has Gov. Mulligan done in 10 months?
