Learn and Earn on the Ballot
Submitted by rightangle on September 21, 2006 - 6:24am. generalFrom the Blade
Voters, place your bets. Ohio’s first casino gambling proposal in a decade is headed for the ballot.
The secretary of state’s office has certified Ohio Learn and Earn, the slots-for-scholarships proposal pushed by the state’s seven racetracks and two Cleveland developers, for the Nov. 7 ballot. The move sets the stage for an expensive battle over whether Ohio should join all but one of its neighbors in offering slot machine gambling.
Did Ted Strickland Make a Gaffe?

Congressman and former prison psychologist Ted Strickland, who rarely shows up for his own job, insensitively discounted Ohio’s working men and women during today’s gubernatorial debate.
Strickland demeaned Ohio’s working men and women saying, “Without education, I probably would be doing what my brothers have done with their lives, finishing concrete for a living.”
“Strickland should focus more on offering up a real plan for education instead of discounting Ohio’s workers,” said Blackwell spokesman Carlo LoParo. “Ken Blackwell comes from a working class family and understands that without Ohio’s working men and women our economy would collapse.”
You decide.
Betty Montgomery Gets Another Endorsement
Submitted by rightangle on September 21, 2006 - 9:21am. generalFrom a press release
CLEVELAND, OHIO 9/20/06 - The Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association announced today that it is endorsing Betty Montgomery in the race for Ohio Attorney General. The organization, which represents more than 1,500 officers in the greater Cleveland area, cited Montgomery's record of supporting law enforcement as making her the best candidate for the position.
"Throughout her years of public service, Betty Montgomery has consistently worked to further the efforts of the officer on the street," said Don Meel, 1st Vice President of the Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association. "She has the experience, the knowledge and the drive to continue advocating for our members as Ohio's next Attorney General."
Montgomery was honored to receive the group's endorsement. "I understand the importance of law enforcement officers and the protection they provide our citizens," she said. "If Ohioans choose to elect me as their Attorney General, I will use all resources available to the office to support the efforts of local law enforcement across the state."
Hartmann Strikes Back

Great website highlighting Brunner's pathetic record on the bench.
Today we learn that while Brunner says she is tough on identity thieves, actually...
She lets them off with no jail time, which - in many cases - allows them to repeat the offense or even expand their criminal activity.
If she chooses to minimalize the act of stealing our identities, isn't it natural to think she will minimalize the act of stealing our elections?
Here's another website you should check out - Greghartmann.com
What tax would YOU keep?
generalIn the runup to November's election, Republicans are saying, "Democrats will raise your taxes." In light of this, I have a question:
If all tax laws were scrapped, and Republicans were put in charge of deciding what and how to tax, what taxes would Republicans be in favor of having?

Submitted by jamesrhodes on September 21, 2006 - 5:38pm. DemocratsSory for the multiple youtube tapes but voters should see this video about Jennifer Brunner's new coalition "Identity thieves for Brunner."
Jennifer's record on the bench is a joke, and I'm glad the Hartmann campaign is starting to expose her.
