Lucas County Democrats and Strippers

From The Blade:

A golf outing for the Lucas County Democratic Party landed in the rough after outraged elected officials saw strippers liberally volunteering at the party’s annual fund-raiser.

Employees of Scarlett’s Cabaret in Toledo and Club Diamonds in Oregon provided beverage services last Friday at Spuyten Duyval, a public course in Sylvania Township with a Dutch name that means “In Spite of the Devil.”

Lucas County Treasurer Wade Kapszukiewicz said he witnessed one woman lift up her top and reveal her chest to a group of golfers.
She then lowered her shorts for their benefit.[…]The golf outing comes at an awkward time for Democrats. Laborers’ Local 500 officially kicked out two of its elected officers in May for embezzlement, after the men charged more than $21,000 worth of strip-club visits to their construction union.

Wouldn’t this be a bigger story if the fundraiser was for Republicans? Democrats are given plenty of space by The Blade to distance themselves from this incredibly stupid fund raiser- Which is a courtesy I doubt they would extend to Republicans.

The difference is that historically at least, Dems have no problem with strippers, just free speech. And Repubs have no problem with free speech, just strippers.

    Therefore the lack of “coverage”.

Btw, how do you know it was a stripper and not just some politically zealous soccer mom?

Wow! someone better tell Jerid Kurtz about this. The other day he told the world that he is a democrat b/c of his morals, and that his party had a moral compass…and all that nice stuff.

Jerid you better take care of these guys, or leave the party! Wait a minute. Maybe this is just part of the party’s morals. that must be it. Just a few short years ago the guilty of a felony, impeached, and disbarred William Jefferson Clinton made oral sex outside of marriage a perfectly exscuasable thing!

The leader of the democrat party in 90’s made it perfectly acceptable to lie about sex with someone you are not married to.

Wow…that’s morals. Maybe his compass was justt broken.

It’s always been a mores that it is “prefectly acceptable to lie about sex with someone you are not married to” — just not right to do the deed.

Lighten up. This is a typical high-end golf outing. I only wish the Repubs would have a similar outing and I had the money and connections to attend.

The Dems are an immoral lot, but not because they have scantily clad girls at their golf outings. I have often said, “Bill Clinton making foreign dignitaries wait while Monica gives him a hummer in the Oval may be the only thing I liked about the guy.”

Now that I think about it…some of the spiritual forefathers of the lefty blogosphere is none other than a group who excused this type of behavior.

That’s right (or, left maybe…which would be wrong) there was a whole movement founded on excusing the immoral, dishonest behavior of the disgraced 42nd President. I believe their slogan was: MOVE ON!

Move on from what? Should we have moved on from prosecuting a felony? Should we have moved on from holding the highest office in the land to some kind of standards, morals, etc? No. I guess not.

    Morals…moral compass…I think I figured it out:

The magnetic north of that party must be in Clinton’s pants.

I think it’s a brilliant idea for a golf outing fundraiser. A political fundraiser, not so much.

I for one think this was a brilliant ploy to attract local labor leaders to the fundraiser, since their apparant other source of entertainment has been frozen.

Seems like Ohio has the same problems Maine has. If this were a Republican fundraiser the MSM here would be all over it, telling the readeds/viewers how bad this is and demand that any candidate/elected official step down.
Does your Republican Party stay silent on things like this? Ours would.

It was and is a big story here in Toledo at least, all of the local media covered this in addition to the Blade article and it was discussed on several blogs as well as message forums.

A press conference was held by quite a few Democrats who requested the resignation of the Chair of the local party, an investigation by the Ohio Democratic Party, an apology, donation of the money paid by the adult entertainment people who attended to either be refunded to anyone that attended who was offended or donated to charity. It was also requested that something like this never happen again.

A Press Release went out from the local party meeting some of those requests, though there has not yet been a resignation or any indication that the ODP will look into this, at least that much has happened all in the course of one day.

I don’t think this is okay, if people want to hang out at strip clubs, that’s fine with me - on their own time and using their own money. Not union funds as happened here in Toledo and not at what is supposed to be one of the larger fundraising events for the local party.

Asking for the democrats to donate or give back any money is like asking their national party to give back that money they got from the communist chinese
