Conservatives to Vote 3rd Party if Rudy is the Nominee?
From World Net Daily:
WASHINGTON – Some of the top leaders in Christian pro-family activism – including James Dobson of Focus on the Family – met in Salt Lake City yesterday to plot a strategy should Rudy Giuliani or another supporter of legalized abortion be nominated by the Republican Party as its presidential candidate. Not only was there a consensus among activists to withhold support for the Republican nominee, there was even discussion about supporting the entry of a new candidate to challenge the frontrunners.
It’s no secret that Dobson, founder of one of the largest Christian ministries in the country, has no use for Giuliani.
In June, he said: “I cannot, and will not, vote for Rudy Giuliani in 2008. It is an irrevocable decision. If given a Hobson’s – Dobson’s? – choice between him and Sens. Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, I will either cast my ballot for an also-ran – or if worse comes to worst – not vote in a presidential election for the first time in my adult life. My conscience and my moral convictions will allow me to do nothing else.”
Dobson reportedly drove from his headquarters Colorado Springs to the private meeting, held between sessions of the Council for National Policy in Salt Lake City this weekend, just to weigh in with other leaders of family groups, including the Family Research Council, Bott Broadcasting, Capitol Resource Institute, Salem Communications, Eagle Forum and Concerned Women for America.
I’m sure the left just loves this news. However, abortion is a deal breaker for me, and I would never miss an opportunity to fight the Rockefeller-wing of the GOP. Rudy is simply too liberal for me to ever vote for.
Anyone who values abortion over issues like national security, taxes, and terrorism is an idiot. If I can’t have McCain, I’ll definitely take Rudy over Flip-floppin’ Mitt and Thompson.
I have to call BS on this. I can just see you staying home because your only choices are Rudy and Billary. Yeah right. That’s good for your country!
just thought of this one…a time machine takes us back…Petro wins republican primary…Petro V Strickland on election day…do you stay home then too?
bs
You are a retard then.
P.O., it’s no wonder you bill yourself as “Political Outcast.” The GOP cannot win without the Christian Right. Why insult us unnecessarily? Now who’s the idiot.
And BS, do something besides calling names. I’m a proud member of the “Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy,” Christian branch. But if I had to choose between Rudy and Her Thighess, I’d hold my nose, take a Gas-X and vote for Rudy. Abortion is the “deal-breaker” for me, too. But choosing between bad and absolutely awful is a fairly easy, though very unpleasant, obligation.
The whole “I would not vote for Rudy thing b/c _______…even if it was him versus Billary” is just BS. I love the “I am conservative first and principle would not allow me to vote for Rudy even if its against Billary” bit. Who are they kidding?
I am still wondering if this same crowd would not have pulled the lever for Petro against Strickland. That would BS as well if they said that.
Sure…would I not love to see someone other than Rudy cross the finish line against Billary? Absolutley. There is no question on any level.
Quit the BS. You know you vote for Rudy against another Clinton.
Actually, no, I’m done voting for squishes. I still feel dirty for voting for Betty Montgomery and Mike DeWine. If Rudy is the nominee, the Ohio GOP is going to dislike this blog even more.
Ditto Matthew! I am never voting to kil babies. Nominate Rudy, I stay home.
I am conservative, I refuse to vote for liberals.
Focus on the Family and other conservatives are going to form a third party? I got the perfect name for their party:
The “LET HILLARY BE PRESIDENT” Party.
If you like the current setup we have now just imagine Hillary as president - with a filibuster-proof Senate and veto-proof House.
Remember the good old days of Communist rule? Some in the GOP will get a quick reminder if they split the GOP apart and let the Democrats have their way in 2008.
Reagan would probably beat Dobson over the head with his own Bible for Dobson even suggesting such a move.
That’s me above.
