A Prima Donna Political Consultant Who Ran Jim Trakas’ and Tim Grendell’s 2006 Campaign Into the Ground Wants to Run for Congress

From This Week:

Hilliard City Councilman Brett Sciotto says he is suspending his campaign for the GOP nomination for the 23rd Ohio House District and is exploring a possible run for the 15th Congressional District seat currently held by U.S. Rep. Deborah Pryce (R-Upper Arlington).

Sciotto said his decision not to challenge Grove City Mayor Cheryl Grossman for the 23rd District seat was based on his desire for Republican Party unity.

I suppose he is better than crazy Mary Jo or Jim Petro, but that isn’t saying much.

It is a shame Chalmers Wylie passed away in 1998. We could use his help right now.

Sciotto is not well liked by anyone in Columbus. No way does he get the Party’s support.

I hear they are looking at a local business guy with no political experience.

I thought Tim Grendell would have made a fine Attorney General and as much as I like Betty Montgomery ,Tim was not attached to the Administration and therefore less of a target. He stood a better chance of really getting elected. Dann is as useful as teats on a bull.
As for Jimmy Trakas he would have probably won the Secretary of State race because Greg Hartman came across as a bumbling fool and Brunner tore him up on numerous occasions. I think Jim should be the next man to sit in Spada’s Senate seat also. He is the REPUBLICAN VOICE of Northeast Ohio. He has a proven track record of helping other Republican candidates and giving to the Republican cause. There should be no doubt given the choice he is more in line with what is needed in the Statehouse.

I agree on all counts, gop. I have a suspicion, however, that Trakas may be setting his sights a little higher.

Sciotto is a fraud, but Trakas wouldn’t have won the SOS race…and if he has sights on something higher that the State Senate, that’s only because he knows he will lose to Patton and will need a job.

Sciotto is not only not very well liked in Columbus but also in Clarksville, Tennessee outside of an Army base called Fort Campbell from everything that I’ve heard and seen. My family there was disgusted by the campaign and the candidate he worked for trying to become mayor of Clarksville. After the guy was elected with only 20-something percent of the vote against a watered down slew of candidates, he paid Sciotto (who ran his campaign under his Republican consulting company American Strategies) and Sciotto’s company called Liberty Advocates which was presented to Clarksville residents as a “Columbus, Ohio-based” “non-partisan consulting firm” to run an out of town meeting that a number of local citizens—including my family—felt was some sort of political patronage. A Tennessee tax and spending watch dog website even highlighted Sciotto’s involvement under the headline “the retreat scam continues.” (http://taxingtennessee.blogspot.com/2007/06/retreat-scam-continues.html). If Columbus Republicans want to hold on to this seat, then folks should not make it so easy for the Democrats who will quickly dig into this fella’s business and campaign dealings. It already seems like they will have plenty to start with by what I have read about him on this website alone.

I checked Jennifer Brunner’s Ohio Secretary of State website about American Strategies and Liberty Advocates. The Republican consulting firm (American Strategies) and the nonpartisan consulting firm (Liberty Advocates) are both listed under the same agent and suite number at the same downtown Columbus, Ohio address.
