Ohio State University President: Bob Taft?
Submitted by conservativeguy on June 8, 2006 - 7:46am. local stuffOSU President Karen Holbrook is resigning in 2007.
There are a number of rumors of who wants to take the job. But I've been told by multiple people that Bob Taft wants to become President of OSU.
With a total yearly income of $562,031, it would certainly be a pay increase for Bob. That salary could pay for atleast 6244 rounds of golf every year.

Republican gubernatorial candidate J. Kenneth Blackwell told higher education trustees Tuesday he doesn't believe in tuition freezes and wants to introduce free-market economics to college funding, and he asked them for bold ideas.
Speaking at the 2006 Statewide University Trustees' Conference, Blackwell said he understands the role higher education plays in Ohio's future and pledged to be engaged in education issues.

general | blogs | conservatismOk here is my last gratuitous plug for the day. I have a started a weblog and a discussion board that is single issue oriented. The issue is the repeal of the 17th Amendment. It is my belief and as I have come to understand the belief of quite a few folks throughout this country that the balance of power in our government was severely altered when the populist, with William Jennings Bryant at the helm, forced the 17th Amendment through in a very illegal manner. The Senate, as intended by the Founding Fathers, was to provide a voice for the sovereign States, as the House was meant for the voice of the sovereign people. But as we have seen with all democracies in history, populism and socialism take over and nations fall.
So if you are interested in finding out more about this issue check out my Weblog: http://repealthe17thamendment.blogspot.com/
And if you are interested in getting involved in a truly grassroots discussion and movement that is national, then check out this site: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Repeal_the_17th_Amendment/
Remember,
Repeal the 17th Amendment!

No Rally Here For You!
Submitted by rightangle on June 8, 2006 - 10:08pm. generalFrom Limanews
A Father’s Day rally for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Ted Strickland that organizers had hoped to host on the steps of the Auglaize County Courthouse will proceed elsewhere after commissioners denied use of the county property.
Judy Walter petitioned the commissioners on Tuesday seeking the use of the courthouse grounds on June 18 for a rally and ice cream social being planned by the Democrats of Auglaize County. Commissioners denied the request.
Wapakoneta City Council on Monday had approved a request to close off part of Mechanic Street, one of the streets bordering the courthouse, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the rally.
“It’s a beautiful backdrop for an event,” Walter, vice president of the Democrats of Auglaize County, said. “It only made sense to me to hold it there. That’s why I had no idea that it would be a problem.”
Commissioners cited a resolution unanimously adopted Feb. 14 that rescinded a previously passed policy for the use of the courthouse grounds as cause for denying the request.
The previous policy was adopted in February 1995.
