A Good Week for the 2nd Amendment in Ohio
Ohioans for Concealed Carry reports that changes to the concealed carry law and and the elimination of confusing laws from local gub-grabbing governments starts today.
Ohio can simply not have different laws in different parts of the state for firearms- And it was unfair for law abiding gun owners that if they were carrying a firearm in their car, it could be legal or illegal depending on which city they were pulled over in. Plus, Columbus' so-called "assault weapons" ban, which is simply a ban on cosmetic changes to various firearms, was not saving lives- Since most criminals prefer old fashioned handguns. Today, this nonsense ends.
The statewide preemtoion of local firearm laws was enacted as following:
The individual right to keep and bear arms, being a fundamental individual right that predates the United States Constitution and Ohio Constitution, and being a constitutionally protected right in every part of Ohio, the general assembly finds the need to provide uniform laws throughout the state regulating the ownership, possession, purchase, other acquisition, transport, storage, carrying, sale, or other transfer of firearms, their components, and their ammunition. Except as specifically provided by the United States Constitution, Ohio Constitution, state law, or federal law, a person, without further license, permission, restriction, delay, or process, may own, possess, purchase, sell, transfer, transport, store, or keep any firearm, part of a firearm, its components, and its ammunition.
More information is available on the Ohioans for Concealed Carry website. They are a great group of gun experts, and I would highly recommend their concealed carry class.
The next step is to stop Ohio's liberal media from publishing the names of permit holders, as if they were sex offenders or some other type of criminal.
