Even Crazy Mary Jo Can’t Deny How Much Better Things Are in Iraq
From The Dispatch:
WASHINGTON — To detect the Democratic national shift on Iraq, just check with Mary Jo Kilroy, who is seeking a congressional seat in central Ohio.
Kilroy, a Franklin County commissioner who narrowly lost a challenge last year to Republican Deborah Pryce, announced in March that she planned to try again in 2008. At that time, she cited “the impending escalation of the situation in Iraq” as one of her major reasons for running again.
Now, however, with violence in Iraq markedly down after President Bush’s decision to dispatch 28,000 additional troops to the country, Kilroy is praising “the courage and sacrifice” of the Americans who have helped reduce sectarian violence.
Translation: The troop surge has worked so well that even far-left socialists can’t deny what our troops have accomplished in Iraq.
Apparently the Anti-Americans at 60 mins. can though. They did a piece tonight about how Christians are less safe now then they were when they were under Sadam. They interviewed one priest for the story, very scientific.
“The central question is not: Are we winning or losing? The central question is: Was it worth it? And that was resolved a long time ago.”
- Vin Weber (R-Minn.), former congressman who admits it is too late to change public opinion of the war.
Attention Mary Jo,
Let the flip-flopping begin. Now that you have a US Army Lt. Col. in the race that has spent time in the Middle East, you have suddenly changed your mind about Iraq? You are not trying to make Iraq a non-issue in your campaign?
I am sure there are plenty of tid-bits and quotes from you about how the Iraq War is un-winnable. That means you have placed doubt in the hearts and ability of our troops. Now you have decided that it is in your best interest to be on their side?
Everyone can see through you Mary Jo. Please keep talking!!!
Things are so good in Iraq that military recruiters can’t keep up with all the young Republicans that are flocking to enlist.
We have proven that with 20 brigades working at a feverish operational rate we can keep the lid on.
So what happens when we draw done the brigades (and we have to because we don’t have enough people or equipment)? What happens when we cannot keep the lid on?
It is a little early to declare victory, and the election is still 11 months off.
And even if we “win” what have we won?
Draft the Romney boys!
Rolly Polly Mary Joey can’t stand as high as Lt Col. Stivers.
I hope someone screen-saved EVERY negative comment Dave Harding (now with Progress Ohio) published on the 2006 Kilroy for Congress blog. I’ve personally witnessed Mary Jo Kilroy flip flop all over the place regarding election fraud and voter suppression. Now, Stivers is going to call out Kilroy and Randy Bortranger on levels that Deborah Pryce could not or did not do in 2006. More power to both campaigns and may the best candidate win.
However, Mary Jo Kilroy absolutely must get a makeover to improve her professional image (similar to what Victoria Wulsin did in OH02 during the ‘06 general election campaign against Jean Schmidt). Mary Jo Kilroy flitting around in hippie dippie and/or frumpy dumpy clothes won’t get it when she’s running against a sharp, neat and clean Lt Colonel Marine.
Also, Stivers will take back some of the politically moderate voters that Pryce lost regarding the 2006 race. Thus, Kilroy will have to secure an even further left-leaning base of voters, including African Americans, Progressive Activists and OSU college students (which Kilroy damn near completely neglected in in 2006).
Kilroy lost much of her grassroots volunteer supporters due to the collapse of the Ohio Democracy for America and Central Ohio Democracy for America (DFA) groups (note: group organizers are Kilroy cronies Paul Ackerman and Marian Harris). The below link is for DFA that has not had a meeting in about a year. The group was once the pride of the USA (2004) and boldly publishes a photo of Kilroy on its front page here:

Kilroy’s grassroots DFA member support has been faltering for quite a while.
The fault for the downfall of DFA groups should be primarily placed on Marian Harris who has been running for OH19 state rep since 2005. Her campaign manager is part owner of Linwood Campaign Services which is co-owned by Paul Ackerman who is listed with Marian Harris as a DFA group organizer.
Paul Ackerman will run for OH21 state rep. He shares a part of the blame for neglecting the DFA groups that Kilroy used to tap for grassroots support. Ackerman was a party to an Ohiosphere stir-up involving the left-leaning Ohio Daily Blog and the ever infamous BS Blog.

Thus, there will be severe strain on Kilroy’s remaining grassroots supporters because two of Kilroy’s main cronies are running for office themselves AND the demise of the DFA groups has depleted the access all three have to new grassroots supporters. Many of these grassroots volunteers have been flocking away from the DFA toward Progress Ohio which cannot support political candidates due to it’s non-profit status.
The Ohio Daily Blog’s traffic virtually died since Mary Jo Kilroy cronies Paul Ackerman and Marian Harris’ kicked Jerid Kurtz’ BS Blog to the curb. Although Jerid damages the BS Blog’s credibility without any help, associating with Mary Jo Kilroy, Paul Ackerman and Marian Harris did not curb the downward spiral that the BS Blog recently experienced.
Unfortunately, the well-known (in Dem circles) underhanded and manipulative ways of Paul Ackerman and Marian Harris are now killing Jeff Coryell’s Ohio Daily Blog. This became especially true after I connected the dots for Ohio Daily Blog readers (which has since been censored and deleted by Paul Ackerman). I thought the way Ackerman kicked Jerid to the curb was funny at first, but now I realize that Ackerman was likely a behind-the-scenes source for at least part of the BS Blog’s bogus evil ways.
The site stats speak for themselves (over 450 hits a day dwindled to just over 15 hits a day)

With all of this, the grassroots support for Kilroy, Harris and Ackerman has been significantly diminished. Their campaigns likely cannot sustain themselves without DFA member support and/or without major lefty blogs hacking on behalf of this trio. Bridges were burned regarding the BS Blog and now the Ohio Daily Blog is faltering to it’s lowest traffic level ever.
Things are not very encouraging for the Kilroy (US15), Ackerman (OH21) and Harris (OH19) camps regarding potential grassroots support. Also, Harris was unable to secure the normally Democrat leaning AFL-CIO endorsement in 2006. Finally, Jerid at the BS Blog has an interesting take on the Ackerman situation which doesn’t bode very well for his state rep candidacy:
