“Influential” RAB Attacks The Oversaturation of Homosexuality in the Franklin County GOP

Click here to read Dan Williamson’s column from The Columbus Other Paper, “Gay candidate deals with anti-GOP bias.”

I enjoyed Dan’s column, but I think he misses the bigger point in order to fit the template of “Homosexuals vs. the Republican Party” or “Homosexuals vs. Conservatives.” When he quoted me, he left out the bigger context of what I said. I don’t oppose Bill Brownson because he is homosexual- I oppose Brownson because was so heavily involved in the Log Cabin Republicans, which opposed President Bush in 2004- And thus, opposed brilliant nominees to the US Supreme Court, supported abortion, and is on the wrong side of the war against Islamofascists. Or, at the very least, Brownson argues that all of these issues are less important than federal homosexual issues, which would be a ridiculous opinion to have.

Brownson’s orientation, by itself, doesn’t concern me. We are all imperfect sinners- But the point is that Brownson has no interest in redemption. And it is a serious problem when the GOP- supposedly the party of traditional values and conservatism- supports a candidate who, instead of seeking guidance from God or help from secular counseling to overcome his perversion, openly talks about his unhealthy, promiscuous sexual behavior and endorses it. What sort of example does that send to young children? And what message is the Franklin County GOP sending to their core voters when they show contempt for their base, and support a candidate who is openly hostile to their base’s core principles?

I know a handful of Franklin County GOP Central Committee members- And they all told me they voted against Brownson. I think it would be fascinating if Doug Preisse had the courage to release the actual vote count, because I have a feeling that Brownson was barely endorsed by his own party.

So, just to make it clear to Dan- I’m not casting judgment upon Bill Brownson. He has a right to do anything he wants to in his private life, and be as open about his lifestyle as he wants. Instead, I’m casting judgment upon the Franklin County GOP, which is showing a serious amount of tone deafness and is irritating the same Republicans that they will soon need to make phone calls, stuff mailers, and knock on doors. And instead of having a knee jerk reaction to my quote in The Other Paper, I hope Doug Preisse and those Franklin County GOP Central Committee members who voted to endorse Bill understand that they shouldn’t be at all surprised if it’s difficult to find volunteers.

I’ve looked at the numbers, and Bill Brownson is going to lose. But the real loser in this race is a county GOP who, in the name of sloppy political triangulation, has lost all touch with their voters.

Why wouldn’t your county GOP lose touch with its voters? The national GOP party has lost touch with reality and alienated an entire nation. I want to be one of the first to congratulate the Republicans for reeping what they sew. Your party has sewn the seeds of destruction and is reeping the whirlwind. Its a shame the rest of America has to suffer through the results of disastrous Republican leadership. Hopefully, Republicans will be SHUT OUT of leadership for a couple of generations due to your hateful, incompetent leadership.

back to the disagreement = hate stuff. so tiring. yawn.

calling people stupid makes you out to be no better than a little kid on the play ground.

i have had to endure the past few years of people who can not argue ideas, ideology, etc. yelling things like,”hateful!” And, “stupid!” c’mon now.

congress has new leaders…fine. but, after six months of inaction (this should give you plenty to ramble about…let me help: obstructionist!) the democrat leaders ratings are even lower! i know…blame us some more.

alright…i gave you your response…now spend the rest of the comment making fun of me for not using proper capitalization, sentence structure, etc.

sorry to cut it short i have a young biggot’s meeting to get to.

I just wanted to point out that the decision to endorse Mr. Brownson is an eminently reasonable one. I have yet to have the opportunity to meet him, but several individuals on Central Committee whose judgment I value have indicated nothing but positive things.

I understand where opposition originates given the Log Cabin refusal to endorse President Bush in 2004. Since I was a volunteer coordinator that worked hard in Franklin County, this is disappointing and I agree that the issues regarding gay marriage in no way come close in importance to the overarching issues of the War against Islamofascism (or entitlement reform for that matter). However, Franklin County is no longer “red.” We are losing Columbus proper by large margins and are increasingly being challenged in the suburbs. Consequently, for the local party to be effective, it has to look outside of traditional candidates or risk being marginalized to the point of irrelevance. Principles are the bedrock on which a party is built and can never be ignored, but if a party can’t retain flexibility in changing times, it will cease to be anything more than a social club where people gather to complain about the direction of policy. The Republican party has numerous elements that make up its Big Tent and at varying times, different elements have to be embraced more strongly than others. I would posit that in Franklin County, this is one of those times.

I tend to be more personally conservative than many in the Franklin County party, but I also believe that pragmatism is something that cannot be dispensed with. While Mr. Brownson may well lose this Fall, he will bring a different dynamic to the race than recent City Council candidates. He may be able to raise substantial dollars for his own campaign and will also be able to speak to fiscal discipline and safety, two of the most important issues at the municipal level (along with local services). Even if elected he will not be appointing judges and would be unable to do anything relative to the Defense of Marriage Act or the Marriage Amendment. His personal life choices may be offensive to some and no one has to defend them to still recognize that he can be effective in his role.

I simply hope all Franklin County Republicans give him a chance to prove himself on the campaign trail. You don’t have to love him as a candidate, let’s just not destroy him either.

Here we go again. Let us be the “all inclusive party that lets anything go” and then we become just like the other party and we essentially become parties A and B. No wonder this nation will eventually go to the trash heap of history. I have never seen a group of indiviuals as this one doing its utmost to put into peoples face the way it lives.

It does not surprise me that the gays are taking over our Ohio Republican Party. They got their example from “old Georgey Boy” when he was Governor.
People need to know that there are alot of us solid conservative Republicans who have not and would never vote for Voinovich for anything (well, maybe dogcatcher). He is not only a RINO but he is a total fake. While I worked for the Republican administration under “George Boy”, my immediate supervisor raped me and consequently I suffered a nervous breakdown as a result and now live on a pittance of a disability pension from the state. George refused to allow the State Police to investigate the case even though it is their job to investigate crimes committed by and/or in state facilities or employees. By the way, this supervisor was a male as I am as well. I use the term “Georgy Boy” because I found out that he goes both ways as well; therefore, the coverup. Keep the flames burning. It will be great when George burns forever in hell with people of his kind.

This just proves the subtle infiltration of the gay movement into various counties in Ohio. In Summit County-the chairman- a close ally of Franklin County’s gay chairman-is a closeted homosexual. Apparently there though, Arshinkoff is on his way out. It seems a troika of the elections director, his assistant, and other disgruntled staff members will seek to remove Arshinkoff involuntarily at a special executive committee meeting.

  8. Master Blaster, 29. July 2007, 15:58

You don’t know the assistant to the director like others do but as far as a pissed off creww of folks ready to do something your right. Papper ballot that is all that is needed.

Well masterblaster, my sources indicate that that three people pln on dividing the arshinkoff empire between them. the elections director will get the chairmanship, his assistant the board seat and another will get his lobbying clients. thats what i am hearing.

  11. Matthew, 29. July 2007, 16:32

I’m glad I’m not involved in Summit County politics. Good grief.

well my sorces indicate this will be the new line-up. you better get on board.

  14. reformrepublican, 29. July 2007, 18:18

how did franklin and summit get gay chairman anyway?

  15. Marky Mark, 30. July 2007, 21:23

Arshinkoff can’t get his workers to circulate petitions anymore. The end is near for the good ol’ boys GOP in Summit County. The battle lines are drawn, it’s who is willing to fire the first shot. Arshinkoff doesn’t even run competitive races anymore. Sum Co. is running less than 20 candidates, the Dems are running over 60.

Wouldn’t you know? I happen to find RAB finally and look under the RINO category (gay Republicans wouldn’t be under there, would they?). Sure enough, we are.

I do realize that the blog item and the comments were made before everybody discovered Sen. Craig liked tap-dancing in men’s rooms. I know a vocal FEW of you do not like gays in the party - or any place else for that matter.

BUT I think the majority of Republicans would rather go after real enemies: big government, terrorists, and Hillary Clinton.

Gay Republicans will however be proceeding with our “homosexual infultration” of the Republican Party, maybe even showing self-labeled “conservatives” how to be fiscally and governmentally conservative again. With Ken Blackwell getting 37% of the vote in the last election, being anti-gay is no longer the trump card it use to be.
