Ohio Attorney General’s Office Disparages Working Class Ohioans
I thought I’d have a little fun with Jennifer Brindisi, Press Secretary for Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann. So I sent this email to her:
Greetings Ms. Brindisi
I saw your ad here: http://www.prsa.org/jobcenter
/candidates/job.asp?JobID=9019 I was wondering if it would be OK if I applied? I hope you don’t mind that I once killed someone, and I’ll continue to collect a paycheck from the Youngstown Police Department after I accept this new position.
Also, I apologize, in advance, for not being a close relative to Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher, nor am I AG Dann’s daughter. And is drinking on the job allowed?
References are available upon request.
Best regards,
Matt Naugle
Of course my email is immature, but I think it was a funny way to make a point. And I was shocked that Brindisi, with how many problems Dann has in his office, had time to respond with this snarky email:
From: Jennifer Brindisi <[email protected]>
To: Matt Naugle
Received: from mail.ag.state.oh.us (mail.ag.state.oh.us [156.63.56.32])Perhaps you should try applying elsewhere. I can’t imagine you have any good references to share with me - and ignorance is not permitted here at the AG’s Office.
You sound bitter. Having a difficult time finding work?
Try Monster.com. There are a few fry cook jobs opening up I hear….
Best!

So ignorant employees aren’t allowed, but convicted killers and double dippers are? Do their HR guidelines also prohibit vulgar language and public hissy fits? I guess I should have also asked if it was ok to get involved in political activities while on the clock.
I suppose Jennifer later realized how inappropriate her email was, as she tried to use Microsoft Outlook’s message recall option three different times, hoping to retract her message- But that option doesn’t work when sending to someone on gmail.
So why does an official email from Dann’s office show such disdain for fry cooks? Is Dann’s official spokesman showing how much Democrats really think of workers who overwhelmingly vote for Democrats? Just because they don’t get the OPERS, two hour lunch breaks, or get to go home at 4:30 everyday- Does that mean hard working fry cooks, who don’t suck off the public teat like Brindisi does, deserve to be disrespected?
Democrats, such as Marc Dann, pretend to care about the poor, downtrodden, and “losers in life’s lottery” when they support job-killing minimum wage hikes or new government programs. But Jennifer Brindisi just committed a major mistake by showing us all how Democrats really think about their core constituency.
Update: Matt at Lincoln Logs has some great commentary on this situation.
Matt, does that mean you’re not applying now?
No- And please don’t ask JJ Cafaro to have me killed. I assume it’s very difficult to swim with cement shoes on.
Thanks,
matt
Just going to take this moment to remind you, again, of your statement that you want to talk about the issues.
Since it’s rapidly appearing that that statement was a complete lie on your behalf (gasp). Matt, if you truly wanted to talk about the issues you’d be debating problems with the AG’s office, not attempting to entrap members of the AG’s staff.
i was laughing so hard at this last night that someone actually came in the room to ask me if i was alright.
jerid…i don’t think you are actually intersted in the issues as much as you like to keep reminding others to stick to…even if that’s what they siad…c’mon even special needs kids in a public school could see through you.
are you using that moral compass again…is that what keeps pointing you to the issues?
He may not have raised the issue in the most scholarly way, but he still hit upon an important issue — that Dann is running the office with inexperienced and immature political hacks. The professionals in the office, including Democrats and Republicans, are still shocked at the mismanagement. The other offices seem to have settled in after transition, but it’s still a mess at the AG’s office.
Missed deadlines, personnel scandals, a gambling-machine contract that Dann had to try to wgiggle out of, and more.
Jerid, if you allow TRULY anonymous comments, you’ll hear from AG people, especially from Democrats who were first excited about the office returning to Democratic control but are now deeply disappointed with what they’ve gotten.
Ms. Brindisi is in WAY over her head. Poor girl, I almost feel sorry for her.
And ignorance isn’t permitted in the AG’s office?!? That’s the funniest damn thing I’ve ever read, considering that JACKA!# Leo Jennings works there.
“Friend of AG insiders” knows what he’s talking about.
I’ve asked some friends at the Attorney General’s office, and they confirmed that many are frustrated by the mismanagement. Some lawyers think the new team is fine, but more think they’re still not up to the task. Several lawyers, including long-serving Democrats, have also explained that the office is far more partisan and political than before. For example, the last two Republican AGs hired new hires, fresh out of law school, without regard to politics. That’s different now. The requests to be in parades, or the invitation to the partisan inaugural event, and more, are something that did not happen before.
They do like casual office wear, though.
I’m a leftist, liberal yellow dog Dem………..I even thought it was hilarious.
Matt,
If only you were a Democrat hack, you might have got the gig. Your made up experiences made you sound perfect for Marc Dann’s office.
The hilarious part of all this is that I ended up forcing the STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL’s spokesman to apologize for comments about frycooks in The Dispatch. For me, it really doesn’t get better than that.
