Ken Blackwell: “Values Voters Have Questions”

From Ken Blackwell’s latest column on Townhall.com:

Yesterday, Texas’s solidly conservative Governor Rick Perry endorsed Rudy Giuliani for president. Meanwhile, several prominent conservative leaders like James Dobson have spoken out against Mr. Giuliani and other leading Republican candidates.

Liberals are delighted. The New York Times even gave Mr. Dobson space in which he opined about the possibility of a third party candidate if Mr. Giuliani wins the Republican nomination.

They shouldn’t uncork the champagne just yet.

I think that Ken Blackwell is doing a good job of reminding Republicans what they could lose in 2008. I hope you read the column.

And I know that Ken has a good relationship with Gov. Perry and the Governor of Texas supported Ken early in the 2006 primary. However, I think that the “religious right” and libertarians can hardly be thrilled about Perry’s decision to FORCE children to get vaccinations for the human papillomavirus. And Gov. Perry just happened to meet with donors from Merck the same day they donated money to the governor’s campaign. Perry is still very conservative, but this endorsement hardly helps Rudy get rid of his label of being a rather autocratic leader.
