Lorain County Government to Taxpayers: “F You!”

On election day, thanks to a ballot initiative, Lorain County voters will get to have the final say on a county sales tax increase. It is similar to the effort to repeal the tax hike for the medical mart in Cleveland… except this effort was actually successful.

The Elyria Chronicle Telegram allowed the county government bureaucrats to cry and complain on their print pages here. But instead of responding, I believe this picture of Lorain County Administrator Jim Cordes explains the Lorain County bureaucrats’ view of taxpayers better than any words possibly could:

Right back at you, Mr. Cordes.

I think that finger has a tinge of brown on it. Does he know Larry Craig?

Is this a real unedited pic? Why was he flipping someone off.

  4. Matthew, 27. October 2007, 15:05

It is a real, unedited picture.

Yes Matthew in what context was this picture taken ?

I sincerely don’t know, but as a former employee of the Lorain County government bureaucracy, I find it to be quite funny.

So Matthew this photo then certainly wasn’t in the context that you have stated in your article, if you have no idea in what context it was taken ….

“I believe this picture of Lorain County Administrator Jim Cordes explains the Lorain County bureaucrats’ view of taxpayers better than any words possibly could”

isn’t that somewhat irresponsible on your part taking a picture - sent to you? I would imagine and inserting the visual commentary leading reader to believe that this was Mr. Cordes feeling toward taxpayers?

I realize that we of the blogs have a great deal of leniency given to us but I also believe we therefore need to be self policing. I, and others love to play with the visual aspect of ridculing our government officials and have done so but I hope that I have always tried to use visual aids within the context of the story and not attributed those visuals to something not related. Just my humble thoughts and opinion. Loraine

I hope it wasn’t footage, er a pic, taken for internal use only by a then-staff member then released as part of a campagin from the opposition.

    Sounds familiar… isn’t that UNETHICAL?

    Welcome to RAB, Rex. haha

Oh great… now Lorraine Bieber actually believes she’s gonna be the chosen pretty girl of the day who will try to carry the supposed Progress Ohio blog police “big stick” that got abruptly and forcefully yanked out of Eric Vessels hands ?????

    BWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!

Yeah right… Does Lorraine’s past narcissistic piggybacking stint as the so-called “director” of the League of Young Voters qualify this inexperienced, narrow-minded white and tight suburbia girl to police the entirety of the Ohiosphere just because she now has the title of “Progress Ohio office girl go-fer” behind her name ???

Didn’t Scott PiePHO, of Pho’s Akron Pages, get smacked around the Ohiosphere for suggesting that he, the BS Blog bashers along with Lorraine and Vessels’ PlunderDUMB and Dumber “monkies” were qualified to police the Ohiosphere?? The answer is “yes” !!

    BWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!

The only thing PHO is qualified to police is the eighteen cups of coffee he drinks a day and his children as he performs his “MommyDaddy” domestic duties while he sits around in his smelly pajamas pontificating, on his blog, about his grand and glorious impression of himself.

I don’t believe little girlie girl Lorraine is gonna intimidate or command anyone’s respect enough to enable her to be viewed as the Ohiosphere blog police, especially since she was only able to gather 20 or so people to attend that Jennifer Brunner event the other day. BTW, America Votes Ohio did the REAL promotional work by attracting the other 100 people who showed-up.

I’m still laughing at naive Lorraine’s unearned and unjustified young girl arrogance. Her only past achievement has been mastering the art of piggybacking and siphoning off of other groups in order to selfishly further her own misguided ambitions while blatantly disrespecting, chewing-up and spitting-out the good people she uses and abuses along the way.

    BWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!

Watch out Matt !! Miss Plunder Monkey turned Progress Ohio office girl, Lorraine Bieber, is out to police your blog posts !!! Maybe she thinks she can do a better job than her mentor PlunderDUMB Eric Vessels who we all know has a huge loud mouth about challenging you to boxin’ matches when all he’s really good at is meditating (or medicating) himself into wild-eyed nirvana trances and tippy-toe buddha belly dancing.

All hail our new Ohiosphere chief of police…

Lorraine Bieber… we bow to your overwhelming Ah-Thor- Ah-Tay…

I think you got the wrong Loraine Dave.

  12. Matthew, 27. October 2007, 19:47

Can we just agree that the picture is out of context, and funny?

  13. Mark McNally, 27. October 2007, 19:48

Didn’t liberals used to believe in free speech?

Now they ‘police’ blogs and try to resurrect the long dead fairness doctrine.

“Watch out Matt !! Miss Plunder Monkey turned Progress Ohio office girl, Lorraine Bieber, is out to police your blog posts !!! ”

I so prefered the Truman/JFK Left to the more common these days Hugo Chavez Left

    Dear Mr. Hickman
I have NO idea who Lorraine Bieber is so maybe her having my thoughts maybe be hysterically amusing to you, and I have no idea who you are either. Those thoughts are mine entirely, no agenda , no political posturing, I am a registered Independent and have been writing my thoughts on http://www.thewomblog.com which is based in Lorain and Lorain County. Glad I gave you a good laugh ….LORAINE RITCHEY

    I apologize Ms. Richey,

I saw the name “Lorraine” and “policing the blogs” in the same comment and AUTOMATICALLY but wrongly connected Lorraine Bieber (and her misguided friends) to your comment.

Regardless, although I don’t know you, I believe you should be VERY careful about implying that some sort of privilege and/or right exists for any individual and/or group of bloggers to act like “police” regarding content in the Ohiosphere.

These sorts of gang-up censorship, slam and ban tactics have been getting crushed on a regular basis. In the past, the “blog police” mentality brought on a significant amount of Ohiosphere bile directed toward “MommyDaddy” Scott Piepho (Pho’s Akron Pages) and his blog bashing buddies at the BS Blog, Psychobilly DUMBocrat, Brewed Fresh Dumb-ss, Jill Miller Zimon (BS enabler) and PlunderDUMB Eric Vessel’s Blog which includes “PlunderMonkey” Lorraine Bieber who now is Progress Ohio’s “youngish” office girl.

Another idiot connected with this group was the thoroughly humiliated sex offender named Tim Russo who used to be one of the worst assclown idiots publishing content in Ohiosphere. A past Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper feature story thoroughly exposed public records related to Mr. Russo’s arrest and legal case.

In closing, I inadvertently and accidentally connected your name to Lorraine Bieber’s which I normally connect with all of the above mentioned slimeballs (IMO). It was an honest mistake and I apologize for any problem my mistake may have caused you. I’ll be more careful in the future.

However, I also believe it would be in your best interest to quit acknowledging and/or promoting the failed concept of “blog police.” Other people have tried and have been thoroughly thrashed for doing so. I’d hate to see something as negative as that happening to you based on your word choice that you may or may not realize evokes A LOT of reactionary rebuke.

Use my reaction as an example, but there are likely thousands of other people who would concur with me based on their disapproval of any blatant violation of free speech that occurs in the Ohiosphere.

  16. Loraine Ritchey, 28. October 2007, 22:17

Thank you for your apology I seem to have hit a nerve re the term “policing”… blame it upon the fact that I am English and maybe not be ommunicating as well as I should …… what I meant in my own naive way is that we as bloggers who have such a wonderful tool of communication such as blogs and the internet should be extra careful to be responsible as to how we utilize such an asset…. with the greater gift of unrestricted freedom of speech that the blogs etc provide to me…. in my own humble opinion…. also comes the added burden ( in my case self imposed) of responsibilty to ensure that gift is not abused.
    Loraine Ritchey

  17. Dave Hickman, 28. October 2007, 23:13

    Yes Loraine (Ritchey)

Many bloggers and regular readers like myself need to constantly justify why we take actions against blog moderators who abuse “freedom of speech” through censorship and what I define as “slam and ban” tactics.

It shouldn’t matter if it is only one blog moderator imposing censorship or five bloggers who team-up to unfairly slam someone into submission. Some moderators are far too quick to marginalize and quash voices that don’t line-up with theirs. These moderators should not complain about our American constitutional free speech civil liberties being violated if they hypocritically censor and ban free speech on the blogs they moderate.

Unfortunately the Buckeye State Blog, Plunderbund, Pho’s Akron Pages, Psychobilly Democrat, Brewed Fresh Daily, Blue Ohioan, Writes Like She Talks and Progress Ohio blogs have all demonstrated hypocritical disregard for the sacred right to “freedom speech” when it relates to their blogs and the people who comment.

    Dave
I don’t mean to be rude or uncaring and I will bear your thoughts in mind, I can’t continue the conversation on this subject … not out of lack of desire or interest … just lack of time .. hopefully you will understand . Thank you for your responses but I have to go quietly into the night …. Loraine Ritchey
