Columbus Mayor Mike Coleman is BREAKING THE LAW & Another Dispatch Coverup!

Recently, I reported that The Columbus Dispatch’s management put the breaks on an article, which was scheduled for publication and was damaging to Mike Coleman’s campaign. Then, less than 24 hours after my report, the Dispatch ran a “version” of the story on the top of the fold Metro Section in Thursday’s paper. My sources tell me that I need to see the original version of the story versus what was published.

Well, the Dispatch management is allegedly back to sweeping potentially damaging stories under the rug. Sources informed me today that a respected reporter at the Dispatch apparently had a story that was to be printed on Thursday which exposed potential money laundering in the amount of $200,000 by city hall vendors in order to support the democrat candidate’s TV commercials. Supposedly, the story was an in depth report about how current Columbus contractors were funneling thousands of dollars to the Democrat Party in order to avoid contribution limits in violation of state law (HB 694). Sources told me that this story was going to blow the lid off this ongoing corrupt practice and could possibly require the prosecutor to get involved. Indictments ??

Again, I ask, why is the owner of the Dispatch allegedly sitting on an explosive story about potentially illegal, unethical and improper behavior? Doesn’t this seem pretty clear of the apparent “game” and apparent favoritism being played by the Dispatch? What happened to journalistic integrity at the Dispatch? What about the FIRST AMENDMENT and “Freedom of the Press” to assist democracy? Campaign contributions (The Wolfe Family contributed $8,000 to Coleman since 2006) and sweetheart deals aside, shouldn’t the only major newspaper in town be fair to us and their subscribers (albeit a dwindling number)?

Does any independent voice in this “town” have any courage to raise these issues?

BREAKING NEWS……. COLEMAN CAUGHT BREAKING THE LAW

I am not making this up folks! ONCE AGAIN, the Dispatch management allegedly decided NOT to expose Mayor Coleman apparently breaking the law (Columbus City Code 2321.53).

In 2005, Mayor Coleman signed a law requiring each and every Columbus candidate to file a five-day campaign finance report if they have raised or expended $10,000 or more during a specific time frame.

Well, you guessed it, the MAYOR apparently broke the law! Certainly, the MAYOR should know even he has to follow the law, especially a law HE SIGNED! What is he hiding? WHY WON’T HE FOLLOW HIS OWN LAW?

Certainly, this is “newsworthy!” Sadly, it appears that the Dispatch doesn’t want you to know the truth about MIKE COLEMAN. Campaign contributions (The Wolfe family contributed $8,000 to Coleman since 2006) and sweetheart deals aside, shouldn’t the only major newspaper in town be fair to us and their subscribers (albeit a dwindling number)?

Lawyers informed me that City law requires our City Attorney Rick Pfeiffer to charge Coleman and prosecute. Sadly, and I am sure you will agree with me, our City Attorney, similar to our paper The Columbus Dispatch, will probably do NOTHING!! Please prove me wrong guys!

Here is an example of the letter the County Board of Elections sent out to every candidate informing them of their legal requirement to file a report:

And, I will conclude this post by asking again….. Who is Nikki Jenkins? I probably can’t go further in my questioning about Nikki without being sued. (I don’t know what to make of them, but check out Nikki’s book excerpts here.).

    Natt,

You just gave Hallett a months worth of columns. Guess what this Sunday’s column is going to be about (and come from).

    HAHA thanks Noe.

Hallett will probably call me mean, racist, or whatever he wants to. But he probably won’t write again before election day… Which is understandable. It takes awhile to transfer his columns from an old 1950s-era typewriter into a format suitable for print.

And, of course, you have an innocent explanation for the massive amounts of money that Franklin County and State GOP are dumping into Todd’s coffers (his biggest “sourced” donors.)

I mean, it’s not like people from White Hat Management is using the party funds as a proxy to circumvent campaign finance limits or anything. Hell, no, the GOP in Ohio have never had a history of that!

Much like this site did during with the Strickland-Blackwell race, you yet again keep claiming there’s some event that will “blow the lid” and sudden turn a Republican whipping into a victory.

Is the sky blue in your world, Naugle?

I love that you are secret about you are. You could easily be one of BSB’s bloggers who literally work for Mike Coleman’s campaign.

I can’t speak for the ORP… But if that’s what they are doing, then they clearly learned from AG Marc Dann:

I love the touch at the end of the post with the Judas Priest video.

In honor of Pullins, I will call you Natt Maugle for now on.

I have really enjoyed the posts the last couple days, as you are coming out and kicking the Dispatch right in the ol’ bean bag. This is not so much about Coleman, as it is about the Dispatch doing basically the same thing that the PD did with Jeff Coryell, which was bs too.

They reacted due to political pressure (PD/LaTourette and Dispatch/Coleman). I think that if they thought that the race for COlumbus Mayor was even close, and COleman may lose, they would have run the story(s). But they know that COleman is gonna win and they have to deal with his crooked ass for many more years.

As someone told me the other day, for Coleman to lose it would take more than the live boy/dead girl scenario, but 5 dead hookers and committing Necrophilia on the corpse of Woody Hayes. Then it would be all about turnout.

    Too funny!

I think there is nothing closer in America to being a king than to be a corrupt Democrat mayor of a decaying, crime-infested big city. Anyone thinking about getting into public service would be immediately disillusioned just by closely studying the career of Mike Coleman.

I think I might deserve a hat tip here. What do they say about imitation?

Thanks VS! I thought it was too the first time around.

Sorry but I have no reason to give a hat trip to your brilliant commentary… er, youtube video posting.

My hattip would go to me, as I was first introduced to that song while watching Bevis and Butthead many years ago.

Great line! LOL. Matt sure knows how to pick ‘em! Once again, great work Matt!

I can’t take credit, it was a Dem friend (yes, I actually have a token Dem friend). But I have been laughing since he said it and telling everyone I can. Just absolute pure comedy. I can’t stand Coleman and would love for him to lose, but that is just pure comedic genius.

Beavis and Butthead, eh? That’s cute. You’re an original!

Eric, it’s obligatory for me to love the video because I’m a HUGE Judas Priest fan!
