OH-15: Sympathy for Steve Stivers

I just left the press conference at the Ohio Republican Party office for Senator Steve Stivers, who is now the Republican candidate to run in the 15th District against far-left socialist Mary Jo Kilroy.

I’m sure the reporters are busy on their computers writing their articles about the press conference now (Or if you’re old man Joe Hallett, you’re slowly arranging letters on a Gutenberg press.) Rep. Deb Pryce, Rep. Pat Tiberi, and Co-Chairman of the RNC Jo Ann Davidson all spoke and said the ususal things.

Then, Senator Stivers talked about bi-partisanship (gag! puke!), his impressive military career as an officer in the Army Reserves (which gives him a greater understanding about the war against Islamofascists than… lets say… a nutty County Commissioner might have), and announced his support for Senator Joe Biden’s plan for a 3-state solution in Iraq.

He also briefly spoke out against the Democrat’s massive tax increase plan (the Rangel plan).

However, I came out of that press conference feeling bad for Senator Stivers because the media clearly doesn’t care about his views on taxes, tort reform, abortion, marriage, Social Security, the AMT, immigration, SCHIP, trade, et cetera. Instead, the Ohio MSM saw fit to ask the same questions which were identical to what staff members at the DCCC would ask if given the opportunity. It isn’t worth mentioning the reporters’ names, but here are some examples of the only questions asked:

1) Do you support President Bush and HIS POLICIES?

2) President Bush wants to keep our troops in Iraq forever and ever. Do you agree with him?

3) As a military officer, are you allowed to criticize President Bush?

4) What were you OFFERED in exchange for running for Congress?

The Iraq War is important… But no reporter saw fit to ask about anything other than Iraq… unless you count silly, accusatory questions about backroom deals.

This should be a reminder to everyone that the dinosaur media should be considered as an arm of the Democrat party… And in the race for the 15th District, I think this is a sign of the biased reporting to come.

Oh man, I am laughing my ass off regarding the Hallet comment. That is very good work Natt Maugle (hat tip Pullins).

The MSM are a bunch of lazy clowns who ask the same questions over and over. Look at this guy’s resume you clowns. He is more than just a Iraq war vet. Ugh…these guys suck.

Hey Natt, did Hallet ask any of those lame questions?

    Yes, Hallett did.

Now, in Joe’s defense, I give him credit for asking about the Biden Plan… I know about the Biden plan in great detail, but in a press conference full of platitudes and warm fuzzies, to hear “the Biden Plan” was a loud clank which has a lot of specific details attached to it.

But Hallett, in addition, also asked atleast one of those questions I listed. Nothing is more important than winning the WOT, but how can no other issue be worth asking about?

    Reporters are such weasels.

Well, that is what the GOP has to deal with. Hell, they have had to deal with it every election year since Nixon. I am waiting for Dan Rather to come in and wax some country platitudes and then blindside Stivers on his military service.

    Ratfinks…the whole lot of ‘em.

So Franklin County Commissioner Mary Jo Kilroy is a “far-left socialist”?

    How about some examples?

    did she …

    * write a book advocating socialism?

    * sign up for the left-wing socialist party?

    * get a business card that says M. J. Kilroy, Far-Left Socialist?

    She’s a County Commissioner, man.

Her job is to set “set the strategic direction and fiscal priorities for the 33rd largest county in the nation.”

And I think she’s done a pretty damn good job at it.

She may care about the environment and health care for old people but, unless I missed something, she has never advocated for control of the means of production and distribution by Franklin County’s working class.

    Therefore she is not socialist.

    Joseph,

Mary Jo Kilroy used to be a member of the Socialist party in the late 70’s & early 80’s along with Hal Keller, Harvey Wasserman and Bob Fitrakis of the Free Press.

In fact in 2006 the Democratic Socialists of America PAC endorsed Mary Jo Kilroy. The other endorsement was Bernie Sanders, who is a Socialist.

While she is a Democrat by name, she really is a socialist.

Many Democrats are Socialists… and they aren’t full Communists because they are unwilling to account for the hundreds of millions of people that insane ideology has created.

Mary Jo favors the redistribution of wealth, and unlike most Democrats, she is really sloppy at hiding it.

And thanks Birdman- I’m not sure who you are but I’m glad you’re around to talk about Mary.

Joseph, here’s a clue regarding Kilroy’s socialism. Read the short news story to gain context regarding the below quote.

“They swore that Kilroy was the purist of the pure, at the right hand of Eugene V. Debs, the last keeper of the faith.”

As birdman stated above, the Democratic Socialists of Central Ohio raised PAC money for and supported Mary Jo Kilroy’s 2006 campaign for the US Congress.

    Here’s a pdf file entitled:

    Democratic Socialists of America
    National Political Committee
Minutes of Meeting of September 16-17, 2006

    http://www.dsausa.org/minutes/NPC2006sep16.pdf

When you page down you’ll find the following quote under “Electoral Politics”:

“Simone Morgen told about Mary Jo Kilroy’s house race in Ohio. DSA members in both places are interested and involved.”

“DSA” stands for Democratic Socialists of America and Simone Morgen is listed as the co-chair of the Democratic Socialists of Central Ohio (she’s listed at the bottom of page)

    http://dsco1.tripod.com/about us.htm

Simone Morgen was a past staff member for past State Senator CJ Prentiss before Ms. Prentiss was term-limited and could not run for Ohio Senate again.

Should I continue my search to connect the dots regarding Kilroy’s connections to socialism? It is not difficult to find this sort of information.

Joseph, you really should check your facts before you start wildly making assertions that can easily be shown to be untrue. Do you believe that if you simply write something that it automatically becomes the truth?

  9. Matthew, 5. November 2007, 22:35

Joseph will wait until approved facts are handed to him by MoveOn or Progress Ohio.

Is it not fair to say that Joseph and others at Plunderbund.com are socialists? Maybe they aren’t registered (uppercase) Socialists, but where do their radical ideologies differ from socialism?

beautiful work my friends. the time has come to deposit Kilroy’s career where the rest of the Marxist losers are…the ash heap of history!

    Folks,

I am just trying to keep the 15th under GOP control. Stivers is by far the best choice to keep it in our control. I know some folks don’t like some of his views on social issues.

When it comes right down to it, who will Stivers caucus with? The GOP, that is all that matters folks.

I actually think these retirements are a good thing for the GOP in Ohio. We can get some fresh blood in there start new. I know this blog has been pushing Buerher over Latta. I am a Latta guy, but in the end, I want that seat to stay Republican.

After today, the next cycle of elections begin for March of 08. Less than 5 months away. Unbelieveable…
