So The Huck is another Republican for Higher Taxes? Scott Pullins will be endorsing him any minute now.

The reasons for the “fascination” with Mike Huckabee are as follows:

    1. Many Evangelical Republicans who support the party only because it is pro-life and opposed to gay marriage trust Huckabee on those issues more than Fred Thompson, in spite of Thompson’s imminent endorsement from Right-to-Life.

    2. As Thompson’s campaign continues to lack direction, some people are gravitating to Huckabee as the only potential alternative to Giuliani-Romney-McCain.

    3. Huckabee presents himself as forceful, dynamic and passionate while Thompson appears lethargic.

    4. Even though Huckabee’s record on taxes is questionable, he can alwys make the argument that he got what he could out of one of the country’s most Democratic legislatures. Unlike the other candidates, he has also signed on to a serious, specific tax initiative: The Fair Tax, which would abolish the IRS and repalce all federal income, inheritance and capital gains taxes with a 23% national sales tax, part of which would be rebated to all taxpayers regardless of income.

Huckabee is within striking distance of Romney in Iowa and has moved ahead of Thompson into 4th place in New Hampshire, within striking distance of 2nd place Giuliani and 3rd place McCain.

If Huckabee wins Iowa, finishes competitively with Giuliani and MCain in New Hampshire, and Michigan is unable to ressurect its’ January 15th primary, which would deny Romney an opportunity for an early victory there, Huckabee becomes a serious contender for this nomination. This is not a far-fetched scenario, especially if Thompson continues to fail to generate enthusiasm.

Well, as this video proves, no mere mortal is the panacea so many seem to be looking for…having that said, I’ve not lost one iota of enthusiasm for Thompson.

    Hey,

Just wondering Matthew, C4G is tearing down Huckabee based on the gas tax he supported.

I just thought since you loved Steve Buehrer who sponsored an increase in the Ohio Gas Tax then you must be on Mike’s side. I am just confused why you are defaming him on RAB

I do understand though maybe all of your talking points and political opinions come from C4G that is exactly what an educated voter would do. Nothing like negative campaigning espesially when it is from an outside Washington groups who want more dirt roads. I guess that will make the young hormonal teenagers happy.
