Did Bob Latta Lie Again? Elections Commission Complaint #2 Has Been Filed Against Birthright Bob!

Click here to view the PDFs:

Part 1

Part 2

This is a second probable cause hearing, scheduled for Thursday, because of another dishonest mail piece sent by Bob Latta’s campaign. (Wasn’t it Birthright Bob’s campaign spokesman who told Kevin DeWine that they would be running a clean campaign from now on?) If found guilty, Latta will have 2 cases before the Ohio Elections Commission against him on Monday, the day before Election Day.

It is important to note that at the end of the complaint, it is refers Bob Latta for criminal prosecution. I’ll have more details and will report back on the decision on Thursday. Stay tuned!

It’s a shame they can’t hold this hearing sooner. Latta has run around for more than a week screaming “GUILTY!” about the OEC finding Buehrer in error for copying a press release in the first degree. These more serious charges will no doubt go in Buehrer’s favor, but not sure how much help it will be the day before the election.

Looks like this week is shaping up to be bad week for Bob Latta, Matt Parker and company. Have the wheels fallen off his campaign? Did they forget there was another week left before Election Day? I’m predicting a blow-out victory for Buehrer.

    Scott,
With your infinite wisdom on all things legal, can you please explain what this means that Latta is being referred for criminal prosecution?

As a resident of OH-5 currently interning in DC, I have been keeping an eye on most of the news sources and blogs in an effort to stay more informed of the race’s progress.

Matthew and Right Angle Blog have severely let me down. I came to this blog to gain some information in my decision on who to vote for next Tuesday and I am leaving it still undecided and astonished. I expected to find information on each candidate, both good and bad. What I actually found was a vicious mud slinging attack launched against Bob Latta. And what’s even more confusing is that there aren’t any posts necessarily supporting Steve Buehrer, just those against Latta portraying Buehrer as the perpetual victim. In a race that has already heated up to a raging battle, I expected to find a source that didn’t partake in the sandbagging, but, rather, adequately described the shortcomings of both candidates.

Furthermore, I am disappointed that in the “About” section of the blog, it specifically states “no personal attacks.” Yet what is all this I have been reading about Mr. Elsass, and not to mention the overwhelming attacks on Bob Latta? Perhaps Matthew’s time would be better spent analyzing how the Democrats are running this state rather than focusing on a primary of conservative candidates with nearly identical records. I still haven’t made the decision on who to vote for yet, but at least I can say that Right Angle Blog, with all of it’s finger pointing and he-said/she-said rhetoric, has lost what little credibility it had with this voter. This is a tactic that the Dems have always been good at, it’s a shame to see some Republicans are following suit.

Dear Latta intern, I’ll help you make your decision:

Bob Latta voted for Bob Taft’s Sales Tax hike.
    Steve Buehrer voted against it.

Latta believes that higher taxes and spending is the path to prosperity. Buehrer thinks we’re better off letting people keep their own money. Don’t vote Taft-and-Spend, vote for Buehrer instead.

I have been reading this blog for weeks trying to look past the ignorance and find the truth about these two candidates.

Unfortunately I am done with it.

I have come to the conclusion on my own that Club For Growth and Steve Buehrer are bringing down the Republican party by high lighting tax increases which were constitutionally required to balance the budget.

Matthew you should take your political career or journalism career or whatever you wanted and shove it.

You have pissed off so many people. It is not just the Tax and Spend Republicans that you have pissed off. You have made terrible use of your blog. You were on your way to success but now you are done. It is interesting how the number of comments made in support of Latta have went down day after day.

It is not because people are supporting Buehrer it is because undecideds and Latta supporters no longer have respect for RAB and they there for will not frequent it anymore. Way to piss off some over half of your base.

I was on my way to success and now I’m done? I have no interest in working in politics, nor do I care about pissing off any political thugs. They can all shove it, for all I care. Give me a list of everyone who I have annoyed, and I will tell them personally.

The only comments I’ve removed are from Scott… Excuse me if I don’t take too kindly to threats of lawsuits. I’ve liked a lot of the work Scott has done before, but he made this far too personal for me.

In fact, judging from your IP address, you account for atleast 90% of the pro-Latta comments on RAB.

Intern said “All this I have been reading about Mr. Elsass, and not to mention the overwhelming attacks on Bob Latta?”

Find me an “overwhelming attack on Bob Latta” paid for by Steve Buehrer. I dare you. All you will find is responses to Latta’s “overwhelming attacks”.

Intern, if your bottom line is who will vote for higher taxes and who will fight them, even at the cost of his own chairmanships when he is punished by leadership, there is only one choice in this race.

    History Buff,

Do you frequent this sight often.

On about Monday it was determined that Steve Buehrer is doing negative campaigning first off his 527 Club For Growth is connected closely with the campaign and using their name to do Steve’s dirty work. Secondly Steve was found guilty of spreading false info about Bob Latta I don’t think that info was complementing his opponent.

No it was Steve Buehrer throwing mud. History Buff you sure struggle to remember recent history. I hope you aren’t in a serious position as a historian.

I don’t know whether historybuff is a historian; but, by your last post, I certainly hope you’re not an English teacher. You apparently have problems constructing simple sentences. I do, however, see a future for you as a creative writer, as you like to tell stories!

So my English skills may struggle when I am writing in a hurry.

It is like a Democrat to move to personal attacks when they have lost based on the facts.

So Steve Buehrer fans; Whose the Liberal now?

“I have come to the conclusion on my own that Club For Growth and Steve Buehrer are bringing down the Republican party by high lighting tax increases which were constitutionally required to balance the budget.”

That’s a Latta lies from a Latta supporter! That budget increased spending from $44 billion to $49 billion. It is not constitutionally required to increase spending by over 10%! Real conservatives put forth an amendment which balanced the budget without tax increases, but the Taft-and-spend Republicans and Taft-and-spend Democrats voted it down.

Instead of being fiscally responsible, Bob Latta decided to be a liberal and raise taxes to support the Taft/Householder pigout.

“he is running a negative campaign even after BOB LATTA has stopped.”

That’s funny; 4 days after Matt posted a letter from Bob Latta’s campaign manager stating:

“By tomorrow, Saturday, October 27th, the only ads on television from the Latta campaign will be positive. Also, from this point forward, the Latta campaign will not be producing mail, radio, or phone calls that mention Steve Buehrer.”

I received the nastiest mail piece I’ve received to date attacking Steve Buehrer!

Go back to your glass house…where I’m sure you’ll get a few more mail pieces from Steve Buehrer directly addressing the lies being purported by Latta’s “clean” campaign.

    You questioned historybuff first.

this comment is geared toward everyone involved in this blog and all of the articles posted. i am not even sure how i stumbled upon this site, but, after reading your “about” section, which claims “no attacks” i am saddened to see so many negative attack comments. i have read posts calling other people “jackass”, i have seen pictures of a man flicking someone off and of two men supposedly killing one another? i can only assume this is a joke, and not “ohio’s most popular and influential republican website”. i certainly hope no persons take this site as the truth, as i saw no disclaimer stating this site represents only the opinion of the site creator and those that comment. or maybe that is common knowledge of blogs? i’m not sure….but as an avid republican i have yet to read anything that is solid truth….although i have seen alot of half truths.
i cannot believe that you expect perfection of these candidates, pointing out their every flaw and mistake as if they were criminals. politics is a nasty business, and unfortunately, negative campaigning seems to be the norm these days. how do you think you would respond to someone attacking you, your family, your integrity, or the way you live your life? i would venture to say most of us would not let someone beat us up without fighting back. when someone launches a negative campaign, there is not much of a choice but to come back with something negative. what is it that all of you do that puts you in a place to criticize? have you all been lawyers, or campaign managers, or candidates? my guess is not. even if you have, you should better understand where these folks are coming from and not be so quick to judge.
i do not expect responses to my comments. i wish only for you to think about these things. i would be careful, as you could get yourselves into trouble and could be looking at lawsuits. my mother always said not to write things down that you did not want published on the front page of the newspaper. your hurtful and sometimes inappropriate comments could come back to haunt you, especially now that they are written out for anyone to read and are easily accessible. i will be praying for all of you. i hope you can rest soundly at night…
