NEO Babble has a great post up talking about Campbell’s election opponents. He pretty much dismisses most of them, somewhat resigning to the fact that Campbell is the default choice for Mayor unless someone steps up and shows some leadership.

Pennsylvania school boards are not allowing the Keystone state residents to receive property tax relief from the slots that are coming to that state next year.
To the governor’s dismay, many Pennsylvania school boards are deciding they don’t want to participate in the plan ”” which would provide an average $330 in tax relief per household, or $1 billion in all.
Not surprising to this blogger.

It looks like we are invested in valuable papers as well. I wonder if this blog could be considered a valuable paper. Also, it has been reported that the coins and other investments are stored in states besides Ohio, like Florida, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. I guess Ohio’s tax laws are so bad that we can not even retain investments.

That might sound like a funny question since he is the Gubernatorial candidate we hear the most about on the radio and TV shows. When it gets right down to it however, those are national outlets. Where is he in the real world, in our area meetings, gatherings and neighborhoods? Ms. Montgomery is everywhere, Mr. Petro is in some places, but Mr. Blackwell is not very often seen at any local events or in our local organizations, especially not here in NE Ohio. So where is he? Where is his campaign staff?

This November Ohio voters can look forward to voting on another Third Frontier issue, but to make the issue more appealing, Governor Taft has coupled it with a “$1.5 billion bond issue for road, bridge and sewer improvements and cleanups of old industrial sites.”
Yet, the Democrats want to separate the two issues, and have the votes (as of right now) to do so. The Republicans need 60 votes to put a measure on the ballot, and the Democrats claim they have 2 Republicans to support them, leaving the GOP 2 votes shy. Stay tuned.

The state is planning to give cities less money, instead of complaining, the Mayors of those cities are getting together to discuss ways to combine city services and possibly combine cities. See, a tight state budget might end up creating good ideas which will save taxpayer money in the end. The fact that there is a fire chief in each city, makes no sense, combine and regionalize! It’s what businesses do in the real world. This has the potential to “be earthshaking in Cuyahoga County a jigsaw puzzle of 57 municipalities, each accustomed to protecting its turf.”

From the Washington Post “But Republicans said they are free to back a ban if they believe Democrats act in bad faith and filibuster a nominee whose credentials do not amount to an “extraordinary” circumstance. “We don’t think we’re going to get there,” said Sen. Mike DeWine (R-Ohio), adding that he will not hesitate to vote to ban judicial filibusters if he concludes the Democrats are abusing the right.”
