Congratulations to an emerging conservative leader. I look forward to following his career!

Merrin ought to do his duty and enlist in the military. Or is he one of those who support starting wars as long as someone else fights in his place.

Wow what a pleasant guy you must be.

Republicans also support putting out fires. Does that mean they should all become fire fighters?

The military is volunteer and it is better because there is no draft. Clearly, Merrin is serving his community much more than probably anyone his age.

    Bad analogy.

Putting out fires is a no-brainer that is for the betterment of the entire community.

STARTING war and occupying another country is a choice that is creating millionaires and billionaires out of war profiteers.

Killing terrorists is also in the national interest. It is a great analogy, you dirty hippie.

But since this guy is a major Milton Friedman fan, there is a strong chance that this guy opposed the Iraq War.

Relax Matthew, davey is gay. He is just upset that so many men are being killed it is reducing the availability of young hides for him to tan.

I originally chalked this up to being just another young, novelty candidate winning, but if you look at the race…Merrin was elected to Waterville City Council at age 18. The voters had 2 years to evaluate his record and they elected him overwhelming over a long-time incumbant. Derek Merrin looks like he is a legitimate candidate to watch in the future.

It’s great to see Derek sucessful. Merrin is a true conservative. I’ll never forget seeing Derek absolutely own Ted Strickland in a debate over taxes and minimum wage. Ted was whisked away by his handlers to minimize the embarrasment.
