Petro Garners Front Page Headlines

From the PD

“Columbus- Two prominent Republican lawyers said their law firms lost
virtually all of their state legal business after they refused to donate to Attorney General Jim Petro’s campaign.

One of the lawyers, Jack Morrison, said Petro personally explained that his firm would be pun ished for donating to Joe Deters, who briefly challenged Petro for the 2002 Republican nomination for attor ney general.

After Deters dropped out of the race and cleared the field for Petro, Morrison said, he did a fel low lawyer a favor by attending a fund-raiser he hosted in Petro’s honor. Morrison said he bought no ticket to the event but did bring one of his law partners to help boost the crowd size.

“I’ll never forget it,” Morrison told The Plain Dealer.

Probably not the coverage the Petro camp was hoping for.

    10 points down on Blackwell… a 3rd accusation of fundraising impropriety…

Do you hear that? It’s Petro’s LG warming up her vocal chords.

This is so clearly a set-up. Why didn’t they mention this in 2002 when Petro was elected? Right, because it didn’t happen. Not until Alex Arshnikoff joined Blackwell’s campaign and decided it was time for some dirty campaigning - Betty probably wouldn’t agree to it, but Blackwell has no shame.

I could have sworn the article was published by the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, not the Blackwell campaign. The Petro/Heimlich campaign, I mean the Petro/Padgett campaign, needs to take responsibility for their own ethics lapses.

Using the PD reporter as a pawn doesn’t mean it wasn’t initiated by the Blackwell/Arshinkoff team.

I am not sure how familiar Anonymous is with Sandy Theis, PD bureau chief, but calling her a “pawn” is sort of like saying that John Kerry had consistency in his opinions and actions. It seems to me that the Petro folks when confronted with more and more people talking about the pay to play environment that Petro and his fundraisers have fostered are trying to spin this as a politically motivated attack, regardless of the stature of the PD or Ms. Theis.

Theis has been doing research for this for months. She’s found one group of witnesses, all from the Archinkoff tree. How is that not a little suspicious?

Sandy Theis is a hard-core Dem, NEOguy, you’re exactly right. That’s why she’s going after Petro. She wants him to lose, so Blackwell will lose. It’s that simple. Read her reporting of Petro’s LG nominee today and tell me she doesn’t have an agenda.

I didn’t realize that Kevin O’Brien in Columbus was part of the “Arshinkoff tree”. Second, last time I checked, nationally recognized trial and patent attorneys and bar association presidents generally aren’t the type of people who would put their reputations on the line to advance a political fued. Last, it seems that from the Petro camp’s perspective everyone’s lying. It sort of reminds me of people for whom everyone else is the problem. Those people generally need to look in the mirror to see the real problem. Maybe the same analogy applies to this case?
