Thomas Sowell on Ken Blackwell

From townhall.com

“Ken Blackwell’s candidacy for the Republican nomination for governor in Ohio is a golden opportunity for Republicans, not only in that state but on the national political scene as well. Still, Mr. Blackwell would do well to watch his back.”

Sowell is a great conservative columnist.

Sowell is a right wing kook. If Blackwell were so great why doesn’t have more county endorsements?

A large percent of Ohio primary voters listen to Rush Limbaugh- T Sowell calls into Rush Limbaugh often. I guess this Mr. Long, a dumb Petro punk, is out of touch with the voters that vote Republican.

The voters will vote for whomever the county parties and ORP tells them to vote for. The leadership is in leadership for a reason.

Blackwell should know what his role is and just be quiet.

HAHA- Don’t count on it. Thank God for him taking on your type of establishment GOPers.

Hopefully we can learn from the 1976 GOP Presidential primaries.

Gerald Ford (relying upon numerous endorsements from the GOP party leaders) was able to win the nomination over that ‘right wing kook’ Ronald Reagan.

Ford relied on the party establishment while the grassroots were with Reagan; with unenthusiastic top-heavy support, Ford lost the general election.

Very good point Jim. I am wondering more and more if Jim can get the enthusiasm from the grassroots to not only win, but help the rest of the ticket.

I have no doubt that Blackwell would do this and the excitement on the national level would be much higher with Blackwell than with Petro.

I don’t understand why all of you are treating Petro like a punching bag. Get Petro out of the primary, and he’ll be rarin’ to go. Haven’t you seen the poll numbers? Petro’s the ONLY one (except maybe Pete) who can beat Strickland in the general.

It is the party apparatus, like the ORP and the county committees, that are a big part of the problem. They spend like Democrats. No one can imagine that THEY might have to be more efficient in Government. Oh, Heaven forbid! The people on the street don’t give a rat’s a- what the county committees say. Petro’s guys have made an extreme effort to ensure that the Republican county committees were greased, so that Ken didn’t get an endorsement. Makes the Petroites think they have a chance.

More people care what Rush and Thomas Sowell think than care about who their party’s central committee endorses.

If you think Petro is being treated like a punching bag here, just wait until the newspapers are done with him. He can’t win in November wearing scandals like an albatross.
