Dann and Gambling Machines- The Fix is In

From James Nash in The Dispatch:

Saying that thousands of gambling machines have sprouted up across Ohio in a legal gray zone, Attorney General Marc Dann announced a plan this morning to regulate them.

Dann’s office will hire an independent expert to evaluate whether each gambling machine is a game of skill. which is legal in Ohio. or an illegal game of chance. The roughly $15,000-per-machine cost will be borne by manufacturers.

Under terms of a legal settlement with one of the manufacturers that Dann plans to apply to all the machines, a game would be legal if the independent expert determines that it is at least 51 percent skill-based.

Dann said machines such as the popular Tic-Tac-Fruit game have proliferated across Ohio because local authorities are unsure of what’s allowed.

Newsflash- The fix is in and Dann already knows how this “independent expert” will rule. The gambling industry was a major donor to Dann’s campaign for Attorney General, so I’ll give you 20,000 chances to guess what the outcome of this matter will be.
