Ohio Republicans and Democrats in Congress Love Their Pork
The Club for Growth just released their 2007 Club for Growth RePORK Card. It is a ranking of all members’ votes on all 50 anti-pork amendments that were offered in the 2008 appropriations bill, which were offered by Representatives John Campbell, Jeff Flake, Jeb Hensarling, Scott Garrett, and David Obey. Only one Amendment passed.
Two of the 7 pork projects the Club is targeting sadly come from two Ohio Representatives who are both trying too hard to “bring home the bacon.” One is Rep. Tubbs Jones’ $2 million earmark for “Paint Shield for Protecting People from Microbial Threats,” and the other was Rep. Deborah Pryce’s request for $100,000 for the renovation of the Fire Fighters Hall in Columbus. Both projects may be worth while endeavors, but they certainly don’t deserve Federal taxpayer dollars.
Here is how Ohio’s Representatives on the Club’s 2007 RePORK Card:
Jordan (R-OH-4) 98%
Chabot (R-OH-1) 96%
Schmidt (R-OH-2) 74%
Boehner (R-OH-8) 60%
Tiberi (R-OH-12) 38%
Gillmor (R-OH-5) 8%
Hobson (R-OH-7) 6%
LaTourette (R-OH-14) 6%
Pryce, D. (R-OH-15) 4%
Space (D-OH-18) 4%
Jones, S. (D-OH-11) 2%
Sutton (D-OH-13) 2%
Turner (R-OH-3) 2%
Kaptur (D-OH-9) 0%
Kucinich (D-OH-10) 0%
Regula (R-OH-16) 0%
Rehberg (R-MT-AL ) 0%
Ryan, T. (D-OH-17) 0%
Wilson, C. (D-OH-6) 0%
In Ohio, it looks like Rep. Jordan and Rep. Cabot are true anti-pork champions, while Rep. Schmidt and Rep. Boehner voted better than many of their colleagues. The rest of those on this list deserve to be unmercifully booed and hissed at.
