Steve Buehrer Takes the Lead in OH-5

The Club for Growth just sent around a poll which shows that conservative Steve Buehrer is leading over Birthright Bob Latta. Here are the results, from Basswood Research. The polls are from 300 likely GOP primary voters, with a margin of error of 5.66%:

Among the most informed voters, meaning those who have an opinion of both Latta and Buehrer, either favorable or unfavorable, Buehrer is doing even better:

The race is still within the margin of error, but the trends show that Latta certainly isn’t running away with it, as his internet trolls who leave comments on RAB would like you to believe.

More details are posted here.

    This is funny.

How could club for growth continue to spread lies. They should know their poll is flawed.

How do the polls go from 31% undecided to 41% do that many people change their minds after they already have them made up.

Steve Buehrer is not winning right now. That is the bottom line. Clearly this pulling company sucks.

If “Undecided Voters” is the caliber of the typical Latta supporter, I have very high hopes for conservatism to win on Election Day with Steve Buehrer.

The pOlling company says that on 9/19 59% were undecided, that on 10/15/07 the undecideds were 43% and on 10/27-28 they were 41%. “Undecided Voters” is apparently reading the chart backwards…and then accusing Club for Growth of “lying” and the polling company of “sucking”. Ahem.

What the poll shows is that the undecideds are breaking in favor of Buehrer. Latta’s big gamble of trying to take advantage of Buehrer’s weaker name recognition numbers by (falsely) defining him as an anti-school prayer, anti-Ten Commandments, Noe/Taft bed buddy appears to be failing. The truth is getting out to the undecideds (who didn’t yet know Buehrer a few weeks ago) about Latta’s YES!YES!YES!OHYESBOBYES! vote on the Taft tax and there is nothing Latta can do about it.

The poll also shows that all that negative campaigning by Latta has probably lost him support (again, within the margin of error).

    History Buff,

You are clearly misinterpreting everything about this election cycle. Bob Latta has never said anything about Steve Buehrer Bob Taft or Tom Noe being Gay. There for your remarks are clearly unfounded and an emotional attempt to keep this website from joining the rest of the fifth district in supporting Bob Latta.

The Undecided Voter numbers I was referring to was that fact that Bob Latta’s Poll a couple of weeks ago gave a different number of undecided voters that number was 31%.

I like to consider myself an informed voter. I look to both sides before I decide who I should support. That is how I know that the two campaign’s polls conflict directly. History Buff before you pretend to know much about the Latta supporter why don’t you try being one.

Club For Growth convicted liars by the Ohio Election Commission are the source for Mathews poll results. The truth is they may not have personally commissioned these results but they did get their hands on them leading me to believe they paid for them.

Three continuous assessments would cost some money and I know who has it.

After further reading the polling results they show the one question asked. It is along the line of how will a candidates decision to support Taft’s tax hikes effect your decision when voting.

Of course a large number of conservatives felt this would effect their decision.

Any entry level Political Science class will tell you that the way a poll is worded will effect its outcome.

I strongly believe this poll primed the voters to support Steve Buehrer.

The evidence is slim but it would make perfect sense to go along with Club For Growths continued misleading attempts to turn this race in favor of Steve Buehrer

Boy oh boy how everyone wants to spin. It seems to me that no one was critcal of the paid poll released by Rex El….. the incredible …. who miss-used his client’s information (and should if not be banned from consulting for Republicans). Dont you think he might have shaded the results to convince everyone Latta was ahead. His pollster does not have a great track record with early results.

This data shows what we would expect, the race is tending closer as people get to know the candidates and the undecideds are breaking. By the way, aren’t the orignial data similar to the Latta data?

This race will be won on the record. Not smear, not family names and not with scummy consultants. Or we in the conservative Ohio matters real Republican party are in deep deep doo doo.
