Ohio Anti-Tax Group, COAST, Endorses Steve Buehrer

From the email inbox:

Delta – State Senator Steve Buehrer, Republican candidate for Congress in Ohio’s 5th District, received the endorsement from Coalition Opposed to Additional Spending & Taxes (COAST) today. COAST is one of Ohio’s leading taxpayer advocacy organizations dedicated to fighting against higher taxes and spending in Ohio.

“Though we are primarily focused on fiscal conservative issues in southern Ohio, it was clear we needed to weigh into the 5th Congressional District because of the clear differences between the two leading Republican candidates,” said Jim Urling, Chairman of COAST. “The voters in the 5th Congressional District have a clear choice between a tax and spend Republican and a fiscal conservative who has not been afraid to vote against his own party when necessary on fiscal issues in the Ohio legislature. We have worked with both candidates and believe all of Ohio will be well served if Steve Buehrer is elected to Congress to fight against higher taxes and spending in Washington, D.C.”

From what I can tell Buehrer appears to be the better GOP candidate in the primary. I just hope the COAST endorsement doesn’t turn out to be the kiss of death for his candidacy. If you look at how the COAST endorsees have fared over the past couple of years in Second District congressional races, Buehrer may have something to worry about with this latest Finney-Brinkman-Urling stamp of approval.
