Voinovich’s Heterosexual Crush on Ted Strickland

From Mark Naymick:

U.S. Senator George Voinovich, a former two-term Republican Ohio governor, likes what he sees in Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland.

“I think that he’s got a really good start,” Voinovich said in a recent interview. “I think he has some really good people advising him. I think he’s not made any major mistakes and he’s doing lots of good things.”

Voinovich isn’t quite ready to endorse Strickland, who took office this year.

“Can he deliver on some of the things he’s done — time will tell,” he said.

Asked about Strickland’s energy plan, Voinovich said he likes it.

“The governor’s put together a pretty decent plan,” he said, adding that Ohio has to avoid the skyrocketing rates of other states that lifted price caps.

As someone who saw Voinovich during the 2006 campaign trail and from talking to other, well placed sources, I’m quite certain Voinovich voted for Strickland. Why? Because the aging Senator is still sore at Ken Blackwell who, while seriving as Treasurer on an appointed term, opposed Voinovich’s reforms at the BWC… And those reforms are what exactly what allowed “coingate” to happen. But even with lexisnexis around, political reporters don’t seem able to find this critical fact… It is a fact that Naymick is probably smart enough to know, but it doesn’t fit the pro-Democrat template that Mark wanted to use.

There is no polite way to explain how much I dislike Voinovich, so I’ll just stop writing this post here with a link to his hilariously awful interview on the Sean Hannity radio show.
